How to Install a WordPress Theme

You’ve installed WordPress and you want your website to look amazing, brilliant, so that everybody gets blinded by its awesomeness when they go to your homepage, right? 🙂 Well, you need to choose the right theme for this but where do you start?

Log into the wp-admin area of your website, navigate to Appearance > Themes and click on Add New Theme.

Appearance window

You will be presented with a wide choice of themes and of course, it will be quite hard to find the one you wish from the first try! Nevertheless, let’s give it a shot! Let’s say you liked BlocomoTwo and you believe that it is the best theme ever created and you want it on your website.

Add Themes

Install a themeIn order to use this theme, just hover over it and click Install! After the installation process has been completed, you will receive 3 options:

  • Live Preview (you can check how your website will look if you decide to activate this theme)
  • Activate (activate your awesome theme of awesomeness!)
  • Return to Theme Installer (for some strange and unexplainable reason, you decided that this is not the appropriate theme for your website and you are going to spend more time trying out other themes until you find the Theme!)

Whatever you decide, you can always switch to another theme, try new ones or return to the first one, your choice!

Most of the themes nowadays are freemium, meaning that you can use them for free but for some additional features, you will need to purchase them.

There are also premium themes which cannot be installed this way and which require a purchase from the start. Some of them are quite awesome, I highly suggest checking Studiopress and Elegantthemes. There is also an incredible choice of premium themes at Themeforest.

Hope you liked this article! Which theme did you choose? 🙂
